After the fantastic launch of Black Widow Martial Arts Academy & Health Club West Bromwich branch on July 14th, we have accomplished alot within our short time of operation with a very large intake of students from across Birmingham and West Bromwich mainly due to the superb facilities we now now have.
At present both adults and junior’s classes are very busy and Group 1 & Intermediate level students are now getting ready for their upcoming gradings in October.
Submission Wrestling classes have also been a great hit at the academy, with a busy mat across both kids and adults classes. Ladies Only Classes have also started this month at Black Widow West Bromwich which are very popular amongst our female members and mothers and are getting busier on a weekly basis, contact us to reserve your place on classes.
We also have in motion several projects that we will be running alongside local schools and community organisations within the West Bromwich, Dudley and Tipton areas, we’re all very excited in providing these sessions to underprivileged children within the local community and area.
Whilst West Bromwich gym has been making waves our Birmingham branch has also continued to grow and has very busy classes throughout the week. All Muay Thai Boxing, Circuit Training and Submission Wrestling sessions are very busy with students continuing to achieve great results throughout all sessions and gradings. We are also now making plans to revamp our Ward End branch before the end of the year so our students can continue to improve and train even harder.
Our fighters both adult and juniors have all also continued improve fantastically and have been representing us both domestically and internationally. Firstly Super Heavyweight Champion Chris Cooper has just recently returned from participating on TV reality show Enfusion filmed in Co Samui, Thailand. Chris fought really well across all his bouts and the series will be aired on Euro Sports in November.
Our junior fight team is now also training very hard for their upcoming decision and interclub bouts at Corefit gyms junior show in October. This will be a very busy event for us with over 30 students representing Black Widow in various bouts on the day.
Black Widow will also be running Last Man Standing & Super Fights at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on Saturday the 19th of October. This production in conjunction with the Martial Arts Expo & Chao Phraya Academy, will be host to over 20 bouts on the evening and our full team of professional fighters from both Black Widow gyms will be representing us here in singles fights, as well both Black Widow Instructors Naqqash Khan and Derrick Bramwell representing Black Widow in separate Last Man Standing Tournaments. The event will be aired live to Abu Dhabi where the 2014 Martial Arts Expo is being hosted and has the opportunity for fighters to progress onto compete there!
Thank you for taking the time to read this feature and your continuing support for Black Widow, its trainers, students and fighters, to join either of our academies please call us on 0121 500 6061 (West Bromwich Branch) or 0121 785 0900 for (Birmingham Branch). Tickets for our upcoming event at The Ricoh Arena are also available from either of our gyms or any fighter on the bill.
June at Black Widow Martial Arts Academy has been a very busy month for us all. Firstly we have Chris Cooper (Black Widow) challenging for the ICO K1 Rules World Light Heavyweight Title in France on the 8th of June. Chris has really pushed himself hard in training and has been cutting down from normal fight weight of 110KG and is on course to make 91KG for the title challenge, that’s a massive loss of 19KGs in just 5 short weeks, through hard training, dieting and road work!
Alot of progress has also been taking place with our new West Bromwich branch, with building works near completion now and all decorating and fitting out works about to begin. This will be one of the biggest gyms in the UK once it opens with its state of the art facility and World Champion instructors, we certainly aim to take Martial Arts and Health and Wellbeing to another level in Birmingham.
Black Widow also sadly said goodbye to one of its longest serving team members in Roy Davis who has moved onto greener pastures at the end of May, but remains with us as one of our fighters and supporting staff. With that we also welcome several new members of staff to our team as well, with Saj Imran and Lucien Alleyne two promising young fighters taking on an assistants trainers rolls at Ward End branch, whilst MMA and Submission Wrestling coach James Whiston is set to make his return to both Ward End branch as well as taking on new classes at West Bromwich gym too. Sophia Cooper will also be joining our elite team as Black Widow’s new Yoga, Thai-Boxercise and Ladies fitness coach, exciting times ahead for us all!
